Duties & responsibilities:

  • Install, customize, upgrade DBMS Software. Install, customize, upgrade and maintain Oracle
  • DBMS, and Application Server & associated products. Support applications & address performance problems, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
  • Provide database management support in the broad range of maintenance to include tuning, backup and recovery, and monitoring. Build new Oracle Instances and; migrate application database subsystems; troubleshoot and run diagnostics of applications, system and vendor software.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, defining, and reporting of activities associated with large and complex database projects from both a technical and management oversight perspective. Database projects to include requirement assessments, integrate appropriate industry methodologies, and develop alternative solutions and track project progress. This includes development of project controls and reporting functions. Provide project management status reports daily.
  • Provide technical services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the database software maintained on the DISA Mechanicsburg systems for DBMS, including all changes and upgrades. Provide technical service status reports daily.
  • Support the customer problem resolution process to resolve errors in systems software which have been identified by DISA. Report all findings and determinations to the Government POC for review and comment.
  • Support and cross-train Government employees within the applicable Database team. The Government will pay for any necessary training materials.
  • Support DISA efforts to establish assured computing through the use of data sharing, SMS, parallel sysplex, Oracle Data Guard and Real Application Clusters (RAC) and VMWARE ESX Datastore Replication among other techniques.
  • Maintain team scripts used to automate and monitor (Shell scripting, Perl, and local Government off-the-shelf utilities).
  • Ensure that the database environments meet DoD mandated security requirements and prepare for and participate in site-wide compliance audits.
